Antecedere by Yoon Young Hur

Yoon Young Hur is an artist based in Seoul and New York City. She draws from her background in Architecture, exploring form and materiality with elements sourced from her two homes. Yoon Young Hur is a graduate of The School of The Art Institute of Chicago and Cooper Union, Irwin S. Chanin School of Architecture.

In the artist’s newest body of work, Antecedere, the artist explores how one can develop a personal, cultural, and familial connection with an object.  In this collection, Yoon Young interprets ancient Korean ritual vessels, “Togi” which date back to 1 B.C. The artist navigates the multiplicity of designs that have since been lost over the years and translates them into this contemporary body of work.

All pieces in Antecedere are one-of-a-kind and handmade in NYC.
